Take Root Milwaukee, along with our trusted participants, are available to help you navigate and understand homeownership. Members provide free and/or low-cost, reliable and confidential assistance to help you understand the buying process, mortgages, and the steps to take to ensure that you can stay in your home.

  • Freddie Mac CreditSmart: an educational initiative designed to help consumers build and maintain better credit, make sound financial decisions, and understand the steps to sustainable homeownership. CreditSmart offers an online training course that can help you achieve your financial and homeownership goals.  Access CreditSmart Español here.
  • Get the Facts on Homeownership: a set of tools that facilitate an interactive workshop to dispel common myths about homeownership and foreclosure. The goal is that by the end of the workshop, participants will have the confidence and information they need to take the next step toward buying a home, and keeping their home if they face foreclosure.
  • My Home: a one-stop resource for those who want to learn more about how to apply for a loan, understand the closing process, sell a home, and succeed as a long-term homeowner. My Home also includes resources for renters, including rent calculators, information about the rental process, and more.
