Area banks, credit unions and mortgage holding companies are offering a variety of customer assistance programs that will allow borrowers to suspend mortgage payments for up to 180 days without facing fees, penalties or hits to their credit score in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Financial institutions who are offering mortgage relief programs will not automatically apply a halt or adjustment in payments to a loan. You must contact your servicer to request a payment plan.
If you need to adjust or postpone your monthly mortgage payments, you can do so by phone or online through your mobile banking app or by visiting your bank’s dedicated mortgage assistance page. A list of area financial institutions (we will updated regularly) with a listing of their direct mortgage help phone line and web pages is listed below.
Before calling or going online to fill out a relief program application, be prepared to provide the following information:
- A brief explanation of your situation
- A detailed list of your household expenses
- Proof of household income (recent pay stubs, tax returns or profit-and-loss statements)
